Chasing Trails Wheel Building

Whilst we’d love to teach you to build awesome wheels, we realise that not everyone’s got the time or inclination, and so we’ve decided to offer a no compromise pro wheel building service

The market these days is very focused on price, making it harder for companies to offer a quality service. A quality set of wheels takes a certain amount of time to perfect, and the biggest factor in the strength of a wheel is without doubt the build. Even a heavy-duty downhill rim needs an even, tight build to make a reliable wheel. We felt it necessary to be upfront about price & service so that you know what you’re getting

Why Chasing Trails?

20 years wheel building experience means you’ll be getting quality you can trust. We’re not going to claim indestuctibility (if that’s a word..) but we’ve had 2 frames expire in ‘incidents’ without the wheels needing a re-true

A reliable set of wheels are probably the most vital components on your bike – a failure is likely to be way more serious than a problem with other parts

So no corners will be cut, ever, & your wheel(s) will arrive ready to ride. We absolutely will not ship a wheel that we wouldn’t ride ourselves

Services on offer

We’ll happily build you a single wheel or a set, replace damaged spokes, rims or hubs or just re-true or rebuild your current wheels. Standard QR, 20mm & 15mm axles are no problem, as well as 12mm bolt thru rears

Just as important as the quality of the build is quality advice on components that will suit your bike & riding style, so once you decide on a Chasing Trails wheel-set, we’re with you through the whole process

Prices

Please contact us for prices. Feel free to email, but a phone call is better, as we’ll get a clearer feel for your needs. As a rough guide, labour for a single wheel build will cost £20 to £25 and a set from £35 to £45 depending on components and other work necessary (e.g. if an old rim needs removing, cassettes need swapping etc)

It’s entirely up to you whether you want us to supply parts or you want to buy your own – be sure you know what spoke lengths you need, guessing is not an option! Feel free to phone for advice

If you fancy building your own, see the wheel-building course
